Yeovil U3A
Welcome to Yeovil U3A.
We are pleased to introduce you to Yeovil U3A. As you may already know, U3As are found across the country, and come in all shapes and sizes. These differences are mainly due to the catchment area and the type of location, whether rural or urban. However, they are linked by a common aim - to provide creative, educational and leisure activities in accordance with the wishes of its members. Each U3A is a democratic, self-funded and self-managed organisation, open to anyone over 50 who is no longer fully employed. Apart from the occasional visiting speaker, it does not employ paid tutors, but uses the knowledge, skills and experience of its members. This means that the activities on offer vary widely from one U3A to another.
Compared with most U3As Yeovil is small, although, in recent years, our membership has grown steadily. We offer a variety of activities - and would be happy to offer more if we can find people who are willing to run them. We are always looking for new suggestions, and no-one should be put off from volunteering because they feel they are not an “expert”! Many of our groups operate on a self-help basis, and we learn from each other.
